In November 1845, the first Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conference in the United States was founded in St. Louis, Missouri. By the 100th Anniversary of the Society in 1933, the National Council of the United States looked back at all that had been accomplished, concluding that the Society here in our country was “a medallion in the mosaic of Vincentian works.” This book recounts the history of the Society in the United States, in commemoration of the 175th Anniversary of that first Conference.
